Session 17

What you need to remember when Satan attacks

From Revelation: A 28-Day Devotional

We have a real enemy whose aim is to kill, steal, and destroy (John 10:10). As soon as we were born, Satan began his attacks. He whispers lies and looks for opportunities to deceive us (John 8:44).

Satan knows he won’t be able to attack us forever, so he’s making the most of the time he’s got. Revelation 12:12 says Satan "is filled with fury, because he knows his time is short.”

When we put our trust in Jesus, we receive the power to overcome Satan’s attacks. And one day, when Jesus returns in all His glory, He will kick Satan out for good (Revelation 12:10). In the meantime, we worship our way to victory and share the Gospel so others can overcome Satan’s schemes.

When we’re following Jesus and doing what He says, no attack from Satan can knock us off our feet. And when our trust is in Jesus, no attack from Satan can separate us from His love.

That’s a promise from Romans 8:38-39 — “neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Reflect:
  • In what areas of your life are you most likely to be tempted by Satan?
  • When you are tempted, what are some ways that you can avoid giving into sin?
  • What steps are you currently taking to grow closer to Jesus?
