Session 14

Mary Magdelene

From Eve & Adam: 30-Day Bible Study

We have to admit no matter how devoted we are to Jesus and how hard we try to look for Him in every scenario, we are human…meaning we are bound to miss a few things.

Mary Magdalene followed Jesus all over the place, serving Him wholeheartedly. She supported Him financially (Luke 8:1-3). She cared for His needs while He was doing ministry, dying on the cross and even after His death (Mark 16:1 & Matthew 27:55-56). Mary Magdalene was constantly searching for Jesus and making sure she was everywhere He was.

“At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus” (John 20:14).

Even though Mary Magdalene spent a lot of time following Jesus, completely devoting herself to Him and stuck with Him when everyone else had gone (John 20:10-11), she missed something. She did not recognize Jesus when He was right in front of her.

Yes, God is everywhere at all times, just waiting for us to see Him, pursue Him and follow Him wholeheartedly, but we are bound to miss a few things. Are you missing Jesus at work in your life because you are expecting Him to look differently or work in a different way? Perhaps Jesus is right in front of you, ready for you to join Him at work in a new way, something you are not expecting.

1. Are you looking for Jesus in every area of your life, even the mundane?

2. What new way is Jesus calling you to serve?
