10 Truths To Remember When You Feel Forgotten

Chase Culbertson

We all face moments when we feel that God has forgotten us.

We keep praying for lost friends and family, but it seems like our invitations are falling on deaf ears. We have invited them but it seems that the harder we try, the more they move away from us. In these times, we don’t have to doubt where He is because He’s told us so much through the Bible.

The following verses will help us remember that God’s promises are true, He has never failed, and He won’t start with us!

10 Verses To Encourage You When God Seems Distant

1. Jeremiah 29:11

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.”

God wants what’s best for us, even when it feels like He is far away.

2. Isaiah 40:31

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Placing our hope in God means we are confident in His ability to bring us through difficult times.

3. Galatians 6:9

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Doubting God is one of the main reasons we stop serving God. When we don’t give up, we get to see God change more lives—including our own.

4. Romans 12:12

“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”

Our impatience with God can produce doubt, but our patience grows when we keep praying and hoping.

5. Ecclesiastes 3:11

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

God’s timing is not our own timing, but it does not mean that God has forgotten us.

6. James 1:2-3

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

True joy comes through enduring trials. Tested faith fights against doubt.

7. 2 Peter 3:15

“Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.”

Because God is patient, we get to see more of our friends and loved ones changed by Jesus.

8. Hebrews 10:36

“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.”

God keeps His promises, so keep seeking Him!

9. Psalm 130:5

“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope.”

Waiting is the hardest thing for us to do, but hoping in God includes our willingness to wait on Him.

10. Lamentations 3:25-26

“The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”

Waiting on God doesn’t hinder our faith, but grows it.
